Based on a true story, Surviving Earth follows Vlad, a talented harmonica player who arrived in the UK in the 1990s after fleeing the conflict in Yugoslavia. Vlad, now living in Bristol and working as a counsellor, has brought his roots and love for Balkan music to the city by forming a band with his friends from work.

The band strives for success, but as they do, Vlad is revisited by the traumas of his past life. His carefully rebuilt world starts to fracture, with the hardest hit being his only daughter Maria, the most important person in his life.

This a season of events and activities centred around green spaces, wellbeing, and connection to the natural environment.

Designed as a relaxed and informal get-together, this event is all about connection — with your neighbours, with local initiatives, and with the future of On The Hill. Whether you’re already involved in community projects or simply curious about what’s happening in your area, you’ll find a warm welcome, good food, and plenty of opportunities to chat, learn, and get inspired.

These are our regular daytime events. You don’t need a ticket to come, just turn up!

We’re lucky to have a lot of space at the café, so if you want to visit during these sessions there will still be plenty of room to enjoy your drink or food and not join the group/activity.

We are closed to the public on Monday, Saturday and Sunday but available for hire.
