Help On The Hill
Volunteer Work Days – 26, 27 & 28 September
On The Hill is a much-loved community building, and like any building that's well used, there is always something that needs doing!
We're bringing people together for three volunteer work days on Saturday 26, Sunday 27 and Monday 28 September, and we'd love you to join us.
Whether you're handy with a paintbrush, good at gardening, happy to move things around, or simply willing to roll up your sleeves and lend a hand, there will be plenty to get stuck into.
You don't need to be a regular volunteer or have any particular experience. Some jobs will need specific skills, but many simply need enthusiasm, a willingness to help and a pair of willing hands.
What will we be doing?
We're building a list of jobs and will allocate tasks depending on what needs doing and who is available.
Things we're currently expecting to include are:
Moving furniture and pews – extra muscles very welcome!
Gardening and looking after the grounds
Painting and decorating
Tidying and clearing areas of the building
Cleaning and general maintenance
Other practical jobs around the building as we identify them
There may be jobs that can be done by individuals or small groups, so if there's something you're particularly good at or would enjoy doing, let us know when you sign up.
We're also hoping to use the work days as an opportunity to start making some practical improvements to the building and grounds that will benefit everyone who uses On The Hill.

You don't necessarily need to commit to the whole day. If you can give us a few hours, that would still be a great help.
Once we know how many people are coming and what jobs we can tackle, we'll confirm the arrangements and send further information to everyone who has signed up.
Who can get involved?
The work days are open to On The Hill shareholders, members, volunteers, supporters and members of the local community.
You don't need to have volunteered at On The Hill before.
Under 18s
Many of the jobs we are planning to complete will not be suitable for children. However, children aged 14 yrs and above are welcome to get involved with parental consent and oversight.
What should I bring?
We'll provide more information before the work days, but depending on the job you're doing you may want to bring:
Clothes you don't mind getting dirty
Suitable footwear
Gardening gloves, if you have them
Any personal tools or equipment you've agreed to bring
Please don't bring specialist equipment or power tools without checking with us first.
We'll let you know if there are particular things we need people to bring once the jobs have been finalised.
How can I help?
The easiest way to let us know you're interested is to complete our short sign-up form.
The form will ask which days you're available, what sort of jobs you'd be happy to do and whether you have any relevant skills or experience.
You can also use the form to tell us about anything that might help us make the day work well for you.

Can you help but can't make the work days?
These three days are just one opportunity to get involved. There are lots of other ways to volunteer at On The Hill, and we're always interested in hearing from people who would like to contribute their time, skills or experience.
